A tiny bit more about the history of the record for the world’s longest baseball throw

I have updated my earlier post about the progression of the record for the longest baseball throw after getting some more information about a claim that Tony Mullane broke the mark in 1881.  As I say, it’s all a work in progress.

Enjoying your research into long throws. Here’s an Ed Crane citation for you:

“Edward Crane, of the Boston Unions, has eclipsed the great throw of John Hatfield, which has stood as the best on record for a dozen years. On Monday last, Crane threw the ball a distance of 135 yards 7 inches. Hatfield’s record was 133 yards 1 foot 7 1/2 inches.” NYT, Oct. 18, 1884.
